Geoffrey Dennis, chief executive of Care International, is to step down after ten years leading the charity.

A Care International spokeswoman told civilsociety.co.uk that Dennis resigned from Care International, a Charity Index-250 member with an income of £43.7m, in December 2013.

Dennis is due to join Reach to Teach as CEO, a medium-sized charity with an income of £1.7m. The organisation does education and community development work in India, and is now planning to expand to more states in India and other countries.

Dennis has held roles at Friends of the Elderly and the British Red Cross. He first came to the charity sector 15 years ago, after an initial career working on development issues in the private sector.

The Care International spokeswoman said it was in the process of recruiting a new chief executive.
