Captain Tom Moore, who is raising money for NHS charities, has reached £12.8m as he completed 100 laps of his garden this morning.

JustGiving said this is the largest total raised in a single campaign on its platform. It was also the fastest growing campaign on the platform and has attracted donations from around the world.

Moore set out to raise £1,000 by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday this month.

But the story went viral and has been featured across national media. He completed the challenge live on BBC Breakfast this morning.

Due to the volume of people trying to donate this morning, his JustGiving page was slower to load than usual.

Blackbaud, JustGiving’s parent company, has itself donated £100,000 to NHS Charities Together through Captain Tom’s campaign. This is the largest donation JustGiving has ever made.

Moore is raising money for the NHS Charities Together fundraising appeal to support health workers during the coronavirus crisis.
