Blackbaud has launched a mobile app for its 'Raiser’s Edge' customer relationship management tool so that fundraisers can view and update supporter information through their mobile devices.

Asthma UK, Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland and Loughborough University are among the first organisations in the UK to start using the app which is available as a free service for the 1,200 existing clients in the UK.

Richard Barber, development services manager at Loughborough University said: “We have a number of fundraisers that spend a lot of time out of the office and updating notes has traditionally been a problem. The ability to update the main system from the app has been really valuable and made our fundraisers’ lives much easier.”

Through the app users have access to the main constituent information, such as contact details, giving history and notes which they can update. Voice recognition software also means users can dictate notes or actions to their devices.

Administrators need to install the new module and obtain a system key to pass on to mobile users. The app is available from the Apple, Android and Blackberry app stores and once installed users enter the system key to access their organisation’s database.

According to civilsociety.co.uk’s 2012 CRM survey Raiser’s Edge was the most widely used package for charities.  Some 18 per cent of responding charities with an income over £10m use the software and 16 per cent of responding charities with income between £1m and £10m use it.
