Barnardo's wins Charity Calendar of the Year comp

10 Jan 2011 News

Barnardo’s has won Fundraising’s Charity Calendar of the Year competition for its ‘A Child’s View’ 2011 calendar.

Barnardo’s has won Fundraising’s Charity Calendar of the Year competition for its ‘A Child’s View’ 2011 calendar.

The Barnardo’s calendar – which featured artworks by the children the charity has helped, stories about the charity’s impact and calls to fundraise and volunteer each month – was scored by judges as the strongest entry in a strong field of more than 20 entries.

World Emergency Relief has received its second highly commended nod for its calendar which engages users in the charity’s impact via short copy and uplifting images. A special mention for small charities goes to WAYC, the Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs, particularly for including a chairman’s message and funding information. The judges felt the charity was being very open and transparent with its supporters.

Finally, the Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer takes out our special mention for ‘More than Naked’ calendar. The calendar features nude images of chefs from the local area alongside recipes and sponsorship from those chefs’ restaurants. Along with the cheekiness, each month’s spread gives users information on checking for prostate cancer. Happily or unhappily, many naked calendars are sent Fundraising’s way, but the Chestnut Appeal stood out for its originality, humour and promotion of the charity’s mission.
