Welsh charity Age Cymru has announced three appointments including its first ever director of income resources who will be responsible for retail, trading, fundraising and communications.
Richard Nicholls joins as director of income resources with a 13-year background in fundraising and sales. His last role was director of income generation at cancer charity Tenevos, previously he was director of fundraising and marketing, where he had responsibility for over 100 staff working in 66 charity stores throughout Wales and SW England.
Educated at John Moores University in Liverpool, Nicholls began his fundraising career in the city, and worked as head of development for the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres, as well as deputy head of development and major gifts at the University of Liverpool.
Nicholls said he wanted to join Age Cymru following the recent merger between Age Concern Cymru and Help the Aged in Wales: "It's a model that I hope other charities in Wales will follow in order to avoid duplication of effort and to put the beneficiaries at the centre of their work," he said.
Also appointed are Claire Morgan as director of corporate services and Nia Butler in the newly created role as individual community fundraising manager. Morgan joins from the private sector where she has previously worked with the South East of England Development agency and Social Enterprise Berkshire. Butler joins from the Welsh Rugby Union where she worked in membership.
