Merger brings £40k investment

Social investment fund Breakthrough has invested around £40,000 into recently merged charity Advocacy Partners Speaking Up to support its post-merger plans.

It is Breakthrough’s third investment into the organisation. In 2008, Breakthrough invested in Speaking Up to help it fund regional expansion plans and this April, Breakthrough funded the merger feasibility work and provided support when Speaking Up and Advocacy Partners joined forces.

The latest investment will support a post-merger programme to increase quality and productivity across its 20-plus sites.

Breakthrough has invested almost £2m in social enterprises. It is run by the social enterprise CAN with a variety of funders and support including its initial funder private equity firm Permira.
