ActionAid produces spoof 'Drive Aid' film promoting anti-biofuel campaign

ActionAid has bolstered its campaign against the production of biofuels by commissioning a spoof 'Drive Aid' film featuring mock street campaigners.

The film utilises the talents of comedy duo Don't Panic, featuring the men parading around a town centre as street campaigners seeking people to take action against 'greedy Africans' who use crops for food preventing their use for fuel. The film poses the question "Three meals a day or three miles?"

ActionAid hopes that this film will help drive the organisation's campaign against the production of biofuels which it says has already used 37 million hectares of land, "pushing food prices up massively and forcing millions more people into hunger". Some 5,496 people have signed the online petition urging the European Commission to end its support for biofuels. A target of 10,000 signatories has been set.

At time of publication Drive Aid had received 2,320 views on YouTube and is also available to view on the Don't Panic website and ActionAid's youth network page 'Bollocks to Poverty'.
