Charles Scott has left his role as finance director at Age UK to join Action for Children in the new role of executive director of corporate shared services, as the children's charity restructures its executive leadership team.
The appointment means that from January Action for Children will have three executive directors instead of four.
Scott’s new role will see him responsible for human resources, information systems, finance and properties.
Richard Cove was executive director of human resources until February 2012 and in March 2012 Bill Nuttal was appointed interim director of human resources. Simon Bass is executive director of finance, Jacob Tas is executive director of operations, and Polly Neate is executive director of external relations and communications.
A spokeswoman for Action for Children could not confirm who the other two executive directors would be but confirmed that from January Scott “would be one of three executive directors in a slight change to the executive leadership”, which supports chief executive Dame Clare Tickell.
The charity’s accounts for the year-end March 2012 show an income of £197,962,000 (a slight fall on 2011 when it was £200,249,000) with an expenditure of £184,093,000.
Age UK experience 'equips Scott well'
Age UK has appointed an interim director of finance, Steve Mensforth, and is considering candidates for a permanent replacement.
Scott was Age UK’s first finance director (following the merger between Age Concern and Help the Aged, where he had been finance director since 2006). Age UK's latest reported income was £156,383,000.
Tom Wright, chief executive of Age UK said: “Charles was a valued colleague for six years and played a particularly crucial role before and since our merger. I’m certain that Charles’ experience at Age UK equips him well for the new challenges ahead. We continue to wish Charles every success in his new role.”
