Rosie Ferguson, chief executive of single parents’ charity Gingerbread, has been named chair-elect of Acevo, the network for charity leaders.

Ferguson will take over from current chair Joe Irvin, chief executive of Living Streets, at Acevo’s AGM on 6 December.

Vicky Browning, chief executive of Acevo, said: “I’m really looking forward to working with Rosie and the rest of the trustee board to deliver Acevo’s purpose.

"I’d also like to thank Joe Irvin, who steps down as both Acevo chair and trustee in December after six years of service. Joe has been an absolute rock on the board, delivering strategic advice and insight with both rigour and humour.”

Ferguson said: “I believe strongly in ensuring that the UK has a thriving civil society and am utterly committed to championing and developing excellent leadership within civil society organisations. I’m looking forward to working with the Acevo trustees and chief executive Vicky Browning, and her team, to deliver the new strategy and inspire and support civil society leaders to make the biggest possible difference.

“I’ve been chief executive of two membership organisations, which has given me insight into the importance of being responsive to the needs of a membership community. And as an Acevo member myself, I believe I can help ensure it is relevant, engaging and at the forefront of what members need.”

Irvin said: “Rosie is passionate about leadership for social change. She is an exciting choice to take on the role of leading Acevo’s trustee board and executive team to deliver our ambitious strategy for inspiring, supporting and connecting our sector’s leaders.”
