Médecins Sans Frontières has launched a new campaign highlighting the work of its midwives with a 3D slideshow exhibition in London.

The MSF Delivers exhibition is free to attend and is being held at Spitalfields market between 22 and 27 September. MSF has borrowed five Panasonic 3D televisions and glasses from NVIDIA to enable it to show the film to up to 100 people an hour.

Digital production company duckrabbit was hired by MSF to document a visit to a project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and before leaving, producers offered to take photos using a new 3D camera.

MSF head of communications, Polly Markandya, said that MSF were not really sure what to expect as, “we had never even heard of 3D photos before”, but that when the charity saw the result it was so impressed it felt it had to show the images to as many people as possible.

The six-minute film followed midwife Samantha Perkins and her team as they delivered the baby of an 18-year-old Congolese woman.

Benjamin Chesterton, creative director at duckrabbit, who produced the film, said: “It is just a very honest representation of the unbelievable work that I was privileged to be able to witness.”

The film is also available to view online and MSF has produced an accompanying poster campaign.
