"So here's a thought. Distribution companies like Myhermes and DPD have developed amazing systems for distribution and tracking. Why not utilize the same procedures for clothing collections. Instead of just leaving a bag outside, donors should be encouraged/required to register their collections online, and stick a tracking barcode on it. I appreciate that this is more 'effort' , but there is also a payback in that the Gift Aid details could be captured at the same time. This means more for the charity, but also tax relief opportunities for the donor. And yes there would be costs involved, but I am sure not as much as the £3 million that BHF say they have lost. I'm sure that many people would be inclined to do this in the knowledge that the crooks were no longer getting the goods. All it needs is for the 'big boys' both in the charity sector and the commercial environment to get together and do this"
