NCVO has launched a toolkit for the voluntary sector, which is  designed to help organisations “plan, design and deliver” digital skills programmes. The toolkit, called Building a Digital Workforce, includes digital templates and resources which “can be edited and adapted to suit the needs of your organisation”. The toolkit also features “tips and examples” and is being paired with a series of “bespoke workshops, training and support” structures.

There are four parts: research and development, planning, delivery and monitoring and evaluation.

The toolkit is based on NCVO’s Learning Lab, a peer-to-peer digital skills programme it has been running for its staff since October 2014, and has been made available under a Creative Commons license.

Writing in a blog, Karl Wilding director of public policy at NCVO, said that it is important for voluntary organisations to have digitally savvy staff as the internet has “changed everything”.

“Digital has changed everything. Everything. Not just how organisations deliver services, or fundraise, or campaign, but the cultures and values of our stakeholders. Business models everywhere are being disrupted. The rise of ubiquitous, always-on mobile tech means we are always on, in the public eye.”

Organisations interested in the toolkit can download it from the KnowHow Non Profit website.
