Chief executives

Scope has appointed Mark Hodgkinson as its new chief executive, starting in January 2019, replacing Mark Atkinson. Read the full story here.


Press and communications

The National Theatre has appointed Clare Thorp as its director of press and communications.

She will lead the press and communications team to support the organisation's work in London, across the UK and internationally.

Thorp recently worked as consultant director of public affairs at the charity Pro Bono Economics, and as head of media and communications at Independent Age.

Before that, Thorp was a journalist and duty editor on the BBC’s flagship Radio 4 Today programme.


Operations

Accommodation and care charity the Charterhouse has appointed Julian Marczak as its first ever director of operations.

Marczak will be leaving his role as deputy director of the Almshouse Association to take on this new role at the Charterhouse on 18 January 2019.


Non executives

The Charterhouse has appointed major general Andrew Ritchie as its new chair.

Ritchie was a career soldier and former commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst who was until recently chief executive of educational trust Goodenough College.

He takes over from Sir Michael Graydon on 20 November.

Veterans housing charity Stoll has appointed air vice-marshal Ray Lock as its next chair.

Lock takes up the position of chair at Stoll’s AGM on 29 November, succeeding air commodore Andy Fryer when he completes his term of office.

Lock is chief executive of the Forces in Mind Trust, which was established through a £35m Big Lottery Fund endowment with the aim of providing an evidence base to influence and underpin policy making and service delivery for ex-service personnel and their families.
