Head of Executive Office

Birmingham Hippodrome Arts, Culture & Heritage Operational & Senior Management
Senior Permanent Salary: £40,000-£49.00 Closing date: 23 October 2018

A great theatre needs great people.  We can only thrive by having the right team on board in a fast-paced, constantly changing, creative workplace.

About Us

Presenting the best in musical theatre, ballet and opera, dance, drama, comedy and pantomime, we work successfully with some of the world’s biggest international producers.  With our resident partners Birmingham Royal Ballet and DanceXchange; with collaborators such as Welsh National Opera and Sadler’s Wells; and with names like Cameron Mackintosh, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Qdos Pantomimes, and the National Theatre dull moments don’t get a look in.

Average annual paid attendance of over half a million theatre-goers underlines our claim to be the UK’s busiest and most popular single theatre.  We are managed by a voluntary board of Trustees as an independent charity with no revenue subsidy from the public purse.  In our main auditorium or Patrick Studio, in our conference spaces or restaurant, and in schools and communities, we make sure that everyone is welcome, we settle for nothing but the best and we bring flair to everything we do.

About The Role

In this high profile role you will work closely with Directors, Associate Directors and the Board to deliver high level research support to the AD/CEO as well as a high quality administrative service. This will involve writing briefing notes and providing detailed background information on key issues ahead of meetings as well as preparing speeches. You will oversee AD/CEO’s diary, planning her time and commitments in addition to working with our communications team on any PR or speaking requests. You will produce pre-meeting documentation and ensure the AD/CEO is fully prepared too. You will also help coordinate events and manage key stakeholders including VIPs.

You must have worked in a similar senior executive or CEO support role and be used to providing administrative support to Boards and committees. Highly organised you relish working in a fast paced environment where priorities can change at short notice. A born perfectionist you pride yourself on accuracy and attention to detail too. Highly proficient in MS Office you are comfortable managing multiple tasks and are able to demonstrate advanced project and time management skills. A good communicator you write well and also build relationships quickly. You will be comfortable motivating direct reports to produce high quality work too. You will also need to be flexible to attend a number of guest and hospitality evenings throughout the year.
