Retailer raises £200,000 in 24 hours for Samaritans in memory of Caroline Flack

Two retailers will donate profits from particular ranges to the Samaritans and Mind in memory of Caroline Flack.

In The Style has raised £200,000 in 24 hours for the Samaritans, selling a t-shirt that features a quote shared by the star in one of her Instagram posts. The quote says: “In a world where you can be anything… be kind.”

In The Style said that all the t-shirt’s profits will go to the Samaritans and that it had scrapped the delivery fee. The t-shirt is currently sold out “due to unprecedented demand”, the retailer said on Twitter.

In a statement, In The Style said: “In light of recent tragic events and the ongoing mental health battles faced by so many we feel it’s so important as a brand to use our platform to raise further awareness to mental health and the impacts surrounding this. You honestly never know what goes on behind closed doors and being kind costs nothing.

“We want to be very clear that as a business In The Style will make no money from this, we have also waved all delivery charges for purchases on the tee as this is solely to raise money and awareness for a very worthy charity.”

Pretty Little Thing, which collaborates with former Love Island contestant Molly-Mae Hague, said on Twitter yesterday that all profits from Hague’s latest collection will go to Mind.

On Twitter, Hague wrote: “100 per cent of the profits will be donated. This is the least that can be done to make a small difference to this out of control issue.”

On Twitter, the Samaritans wrote to In The Style: “Thank you so much for supporting us, guys. The money you raise will help us be there for more people when they need us most.”

Mind said that while it has privately thanked Hague and the CEO of Pretty Little Thing for choosing to support Mind, it will not be commenting publicly on this donation.

In 2017, Manchester-based In The Style designed and sold a dress with the Manchester bee emblem to raise money for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, following the Manchester Arena bombing.

In the UK and Ireland, Samaritans can be contacted on 116 123 or email [email protected] or [email protected]
