Cancer Research UK launches product range for patients

06 Aug 2018 News

Cancer Research UK has launched a range of products designed to help people who are going through treatment or are recovering from illness.

It is the first time that the charity has developed products aimed at helping people with cancer. It used insight from its patient support groups to do so.

There are over 250 products in the range, which is available via CRUK's online shop. It includes things like post-surgery seatbelt protectors, skin and haircare and items that could be useful during a hospital stay.

The charity said that it hopes its website will be a "one-stop shop" for people with cancer.

All of the profit from the sale of the products will be channelled back into the charity's work on funding research.

Julie Byard, head of trading, said: “The whole idea for this range came from our volunteer patient support groups. We all agreed that there were many good reasons for introducing it to our online offering: a key motivation was enabling people on a cancer journey to feel more ‘human’ again and to show that addressing their personal issues – even in small ways - can make a huge difference.

“As well as making life a little easier for patients, the range was created to help loved ones and friends. It can be hard to know what to get somebody who is going through treatment, but this new range is specially designed to help. From travel bags for hospital visits to sensitive shampoo, each purchase has the added benefit of contributing to our life-saving work. The net profit goes back into funding the research of our scientists, who work tirelessly to on the prevention, diagnosis and treatments of all cancers.”

CRUK hopes to be able to make products available to its charity shops in the future.
