BBC One is broadcasting a second series of its daytime programme which examines different cases of charity fraud.

Five new episodes of Britain's Secret Charity Cheats have been made for the series, which began yesterday and concludes on Friday.

Each 45-minute episode focuses on different cases where scammers have exploited the public in the name of charity and the impact they have had on people connected to the case.

It also profiles genuine charities working in related areas and offers tips on how to spot fake charities and fraudsters, and where to report them.

The first episode of this series featured a hospice manager who stole £90,000 and a charity boss who stole hundreds of thousands to move to the Caribbean.

“We have amazing charities right across the country, but every year billions of pounds are stolen from good causes,” says reporter Kevin Duala as he opens the series.

“Charity fraud is a growing crime, so we’re putting the spotlight on the crooks and cheats pocketing your donations.”
