Zarine Kharas is the founder and chief executive of fundraising website JustGiving, which launched in February 2001 and is credited with transforming online fundraising, enabling charities and individuals to easily raise sponsorship money over the internet.
By the end of 2008, users of JustGiving had raised £527m for 8,100 charities, and a US version has also been launched.
Kharas was awarded the Albert Medal by the RSA in 2009 for “democratising fundraising and technology for charities”.
Previously, in the 1980s, she worked in investment banking, and then launched the MC Securities’ operations in Warsaw, where she was responsible for strategy and operations.
