Steve Palmer

Steve is press and public affairs manager at the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) and in April 2011 was appointed to the board of the professional body of charity communications, Charity Comms.

His current communications work concentrates on supporting SCIE to achieve its business goals. 

Since 2003, Steve has worked for charities dealing with substance misuse, mental health, learning disabilities, volunteering and wider social care. Before that, Steve was a journalist at the BBC and elsewhere.

He started his working life at Trailfinders Travel.

Steve has a track record of developing and delivering media strategies that have directly contributed to the achievements of three social care organisations’ overall vision and work plans.

Steve is a school governor and the chair of PODS, a group of parents in Barnet whose children have Down’s Syndrome.
