Sir Nicholas Serota

Before becoming director of Tate in 1988 Nicholas, an art historian and curator, was previously director of the Museum of Modern Art in Oxford.

He oversaw the opening of Tate St Ives in 1993 followed the Tate Modern in 2000 and the re-launch of the Millbank gallery as Tate Britain.
