Chairman, Traidcraft from September 2011
Former UK chief executive of the Inlaks Group, Ram Gidoomal CBE, has been appointed chairman of Christian anti-poverty charity Traidcraft, commencing in September 2011.
Ram was born into a Hindu family, brought up in the Sikh faith and educated in a Muslim school in Kenya, later becoming a Christian as a young adult.
In the 1980's he co-founded the Christmas Cracker project which encouraged UK teenagers to raise funds for the developing world.
He is also chair of the Office for the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education, the South Asian Development Partnership Trust and Allia.
