Maggie Darling

Maggie Darling, wife of former Chancellor Alistair Darling, is chair of the Daycare Trust.

During her career as a journalist, Darling held posts including as staff writer for the Mirror, Sunday Standard and Daily Record and as night news editor for the Glasgow Herald.

During the time her husband was Chancellor of the Exchequer, Darling undertook considerable charity work opening up 11 Downing Street to host events with small and medium-sized charities.

In addition to her role as chair of trustees at national childcare charity the Daycare Trust, which she took up in the autumn of 2010, Maggie is also lead patron for Scottish charity Circle, which provides community-based support to marginalised children and families.
