Khadiru Mahdi

Khadiru Mahdi, chief executive of Tower Hamlets CVS, has over 15 years senior leadership and management in the public and voluntary sectors.

His career has varied between working for large and small community organisations in Hackney and Lambeth to the regional voluntary organisation, London Voluntary Service Council (LVSC).

As policy officer for the voluntary sector at Lambeth Council, he led the development of its voluntary sector policy and strategy including negotiating the Lambeth Compact and managing the Council’s grants programme.

As communities & neighbourhoods manager in Lambeth, Khadiru worked directly with the community and local businesses, building local structures to empower communities and facilitate their engagement, representation and influence with the Council, Health Authority and other statutory bodies.

He led the delivery of services, including training for the voluntary and community sector as director of projects and Services at LVSC and is a volunteer member of two UK based community organisations that provide social, economic and educational development in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
