Kate Richardson joined Lumos in September 2011 as director of programmes after Georgette Mulheir was promoted to chief executive in the spring.

She is a qualified social worker and is a founding member of the National Working Group on Child Protection and Disability. She has published work on child protection systems and disabled children and has contributed to many national guidance and training initiatives in this area.

In 2000, Kate joined the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) managing the specialist investigation service across the North West of England and in 2005 was seconded into the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre.
