Julian Thompson
Executive director, London's Air Ambulance from November 2011
Julian Thompson has been executive director of London’s Air Ambulance since November 2011.
He previously worked for the charity as a doctor in 2010 and returned to work with senior figures in the City of London to expand capacity and increase its funding.
He qualified as a doctor from Oxford University in 2001 and trained in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in London and Oxford.
He has also worked with the British Army in Afghanistan and led mountaineering and exploratory expeditions across the world. In 2005 he reached the summit of Mount Everest and has combined this passion with a research interest in the response of the human body to extreme environments.
