John Parry

Chief executive, The Fire Fighters Charity from January 2011

John was appointed interim chief executive of the Fire Fighters Charity in January 2011 before accepting the permanent position in July of the same year. He has also been a member of the charity's board of directors.

He has worked for the UK fire and rescue service for over 30 years. As executive officer with Oxfordshire County Council and chief fire officer at Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service John was a key figure in the flood emergeny operation on 2007. That year he was awarded the Queen's Fire Service Medal for distinguished service.

Prior to his work in Oxford he was stationed in Buckinghamshire as second in command from 1998 before taking the top position in 2000, prior to that he had served as station manager of Didcot Fire Station in the late 1980's. 

He is a father of two.
