Chief executive, Edmund Rice from July 2011
Jenni Barrett has worked in the area of fundraising and non-‐profit development in Ireland for over 15 years, most recently being appointed as chief executive of Edmund Rice Development.
Previously, working with the Jesuit order, Jenni was executive director of Clongowes Wood College Foundation for four years. There she had overall responsibility for the college’s major capital development campaign and associated fundraising activities which raised €20 million to 2008.
She has also held senior fundraising and development roles in University College Dublin, The National Concert Hall, The Ark Cultural Centre for Children, Dublin Institute of Technology Foundation and Headstrong – The National Centre for Youth Mental Health.
Prior to her career in non-‐profit development and fundraising, Jenni worked for six years in the areas of marketing and communications in the Bank of Ireland group.
Jenni was awarded a full scholarship by the Irish Institute of Boston College to take part in its Non-‐Profit Development Program in the U.S. in 2003. The intensive academic program in Boston College, and site visits to non-‐profit organisations in Boston and Denver, provided an in-‐depth insight into U.S. philanthropic fundraising and non-‐profit development practices.
Jenni holds an honours degree in economics and history from University College Dublin, a postgraduate diploma in business studies from the Smurfit School of Business, and a professional certificate in marketing financial services from Dublin Institute of Technology. She is a member of Fundraising Ireland, the professional body of fundraisers in Ireland. Jenni has served in a number of voluntary positions over the years – most notably as Athlete Entertainment Co-‐ordinator with the Special Olympics World Games in 2003, and as a member of the board of Children’s Books Ireland, the national agency to promote quality books and reading for children in Ireland. She writes for business and creatively, and recently completed her first fiction novel.
