Jackie Bliss

Jackie Bliss

Jackie Bliss is the director of finance and ICS at national disability charity Livability.

Bliss was formerly finance director for the National Church Institutions of the Church of England. Her recruitment to the post in 2006 sparked intrigue as it was the first time a finance director had been appointed to work jointly for the Archbishops’ Council, the Church Commissioners for England and the Church of England Pensions Board. Previously the workload was shared between three finance directors/financial secretaries.

She trained as a chartered accountant and took her first position as director of finance at Maplin Electronics plc. She then progressed to be director of finance and administration at the Thomas Coram Foundation charity, now known as Coram Family. Her most recent positions before the Church were as non-executive director for the Southend University Hospital Foundation Trust and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. She has also been a non-executive director and trustee of the Pensions Trust where she chaired the Trust’s investment committee.

Bliss also served on her parish parochial church council and continues to be the parish’s link for its Church Mission Society mission partner in DR Congo.
