As someone who has worked in finance since the early 1980’s RSPCA director of resources Huw Davies, has seen the effect of recession on organisations both large and small.
The former zoo keeper with a degree in Applied Biology is also fascinated by the complexities of the animal welfare challenges facing the RSPCA.
A qualified accountant with commercial experience gained in retailing and the construction industry he made the move to the charity sector in 1998. Having worked for two social care charities before joining the RSPCA he is convinced that the key to charity survival in these turbulent economic times is Trustees and senior mangers knowing their business and its true operating costs and being realistic about managing expectations.
