Helen Carter is a lay member of the Charity Tribunal.
She is also a non-executive director of the Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust; a lay reviewer of the Royal College of Surgeons Invited Review Mechanism; a lay member of the Employment Tribunals Service and on the board of Kent Probation Area.
After working in a variety of public and private sector HR roles Carter moved into management consulting. She has been chief executive of both a regional and a national charity and served on a number of committees and working groups of ACENVO (the predecessor to Acevo). She also charied the European Platform for Patients Organisations, Science and Industry.
In 2010 she became a trustee of the Royal College of Nursing Foundation, the grantmaking body that was created after the RCN itself ceased to be a charity.
