Gary Lashko
Community services director, CHS Group from 2 August
As of 2 August 2011 Gary Lashko is community services director for CHS Group in Cambridge. He was previously director of supported living at Sanctuary from 1st July 2010.
Prior to that he was chief executive of Carr-Gomm, a national charity providing support and housing, from 1st October 2003.
This was preceeded by a chiefdom at Providence Row Housing Association, working with street homeless people in London’s East End from October 1997, which he joined after being director of development for Carr-Gomm.
Gary worked briefly for the Refugee Housing Association, and between 1988 and 1994 Gary worked for Centrepoint, the housing association and charity for young homeless people.
His career in supported housing began in Carr-Gomm in the early 1980’s and has worked for two Health Authorities in mental health services.
He is chair of the Revolving Doors Agency - a charity working across England to change systems and improve services for people with multiple problems including poor mental health who are in contact with the criminal justice system. He is also co-editor of the Housing Care and Support Journal (published by Pier Professional).
Gary was born in Leicester in 1957, has an MA in English from Clare College, Cambridge (1979), and lives near Cambridge with his partner and 3 children.
