Fiona Ellis
Fiona Ellis was until March 2009 the director of the Northern Rock Foundation, and before that she worked for other grantmakers including the Baring Foundation and the Esmee Fairbairn Charitable Trust.
She has been on the Comic Relief UK grants committee and was the vice-chair of Futurebuilders. She is a member of the NCVO Funding Commission that is trying to tackle the problems associated with funding in the voluntary sector. She is also a trustee at the Nationwide Foundation.
Ellis worked as a stage manager and theatre director before embarking on her voluntary sector career. She was a judge at the 2009 Charity Awards.

Payment-by-results statutory contracts are worth £60bn, says Lord Wei 8

Lord Nat Wei, government adviser on the Big Society, has said government payment-by-results contracts will be worth £60bn annually.
Philanthropy UK, the Association of Charitable Foundations spin-off that seeks to boost effective giving, has urged the government to fund an agency that will help donors choose which causes to fund.
The sector could increase income via individual giving, trading and commercial sector donations from £20.7bn to £32bn per annum by 2020 if it invests just £12.2m, the Funding Commission concluded in the publication of its final report last night.

The Funding Commission has proposed a £10m ‘Big Ask’ campaign to bolster fundraising and promote the work of civil society organisations.
