Fiona Ellis was until March 2009 the director of the Northern Rock Foundation, and before that she worked for other grantmakers including the Baring Foundation and the Esmee Fairbairn Charitable Trust.
She has been on the Comic Relief UK grants committee and was the vice-chair of Futurebuilders. She is a member of the NCVO Funding Commission that is trying to tackle the problems associated with funding in the voluntary sector. She is also a trustee at the Nationwide Foundation.
Ellis worked as a stage manager and theatre director before embarking on her voluntary sector career. She was a judge at the 2009 Charity Awards.
