David Rhind

Professor David Rhind CBE is a trustee of the Nuffield Foundation and will become its chair on 1 October 2010.  He has been a trustee since 2008, is also a board member of the UK Statistics Authority and chairs both the government’s Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information and the NHS Trust Board of Portsmouth Hospitals.

Previous posts include director on the Court of the Bank of England; vice chancellor and president of City University London, and chair of the Academy of Social Sciences’ Commission of Social Sciences.

He has also been a member of the Economic and Social Research Council and was director general of the Ordnance Survey until 1998.
