Deputy chief executive, Help the Hospices
David Burland has worked in the voluntary sector since 1989. He is currently deputy CEO at Help the Hospices, where he has worked since 1999.
He was originally director of fundraising and oversaw the charity's near six-fold increase in income over seven years and the winning of major corporate partnerships with the likes of Tesco, Argos, KPMG and many others.
He then became chief operating officer before being named as DCEO two years ago. His current remit includes oversight of the charity's range of support services for their hospice members, whose collective expenditure amounts to around £750m a year.
