Clarissa Baldwin
Clarissa Baldwin is the Chief Executive of Dog’s Trust.
Her working career didn’t start in the charity sector. The first industry she entered was that of glitz and glamour: the fashion industry. As a model, Baldwin’s role was to present an image of style & grace. Her style in the fashion arena transferred into literary style as she shifted into journalism. Journalism further developed her communication skills and provided a gateway into public relations consultancy work. Bringing her skills to Dog Trust she was hired as the Head of Public Relations in 1974, and later as their Chief Executive (1986). As many others that enter the charity sector, she never looked back. Her campaigns focus on the way we nurture symbiotic relationships with our animal friends. With this purpose in mind, Clarissa has found, chaired, and volunteered at a number of groups. These charities have flourished in London, the UK, and internationally.
Baldwin’s future holds more campaigning. Dog’s Trust plans to expand their efforts to Ireland. By cultivating a culture of dog ownership in the Republic of Ireland, they hope to open a ‘rehoming’ location to reduce the number of dogs transferred to the UK. Baldwin is also campaigning for the compulsory micro chipping of dogs” to cut down the number of unwanted or stray dogs...”
