Chris Darmon

Chris Darmon was appointed chairman of the Youth Hostel Association (YHA) in 2007. He has been involved with the organisation since his youth including working as a seasonal assistant at YHA hostels and volunteering in the Peak District.

His management involvement with the charity began when he was appointed an area chairman. Following this he became chairman of central region, a trustee board member and vice chairman for the ten years preceding his current national chair position.

Chris began his career as a geology teacher in Sheffield. He continues to work in education, as an adult tutor on his own classes and for the University of Sheffield. He is also chairman of worldwide specialist company for geologists, Geo Supplies.

Outside of his current work, Chris organises and leads geographical tours across Iceland, Tenerife and the UK.
