Charles Mackay

Charles Mackay has been chairman of Historic Royal Palaces since May 2006.

He is also chairman of TDG plc, senior independent director and chairman of the remuneration committee of Johnson Matthey plc and chairman, board member and part of the standing committee for the Audit Committee of INSEAD.

He was group chief executive and deputy chairman of international marketing and services group, Inchcape plc until 1996. He was also the non-executive chairman of the Eurotunnel Group from 2001 to 2004 where he remains deputy chairman and a member of the board.

He has also held several other non-executive directorships for companies including HSBC Holdings plc, Midland Bank plc, British Airways plc and Gucci Group NV,

Charles has an MA in Law from Queens' College, Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD.
