Alastair Balls

Alastair Balls is chairman of the Alzheimer's Society, the Northern Rock Foundation and of the International Centre for Life where he was previously chief executive. He is also chair of the advisory council and the remuneration committee.

He is also a non-executive director of Northumbrian Water and biotech company CELS, a member of the Higher Education Council for England and received the Companion of the Order of Bath for services to regeneration in the north east of England.

Alastair was previously chief executive of the Tyne and Wear Development Corporation, member of the Independent Television Commission, deputy chair of council of Newcastle University, non executive director of venture capital company, NStar and chief executive of the International Centre For Life.
