Youth charity the Prince’s Trust has today launched an online portal which will mean it can reach thousands more young people with its services.

Prince’s Trust Online will deliver versions of the charity's services to young people through e-learning modules and online mentoring. It will replicate its face-to-face services for people unable to access support in person because of where they live or their personal circumstances.

The charity has started with its Enterprise programme, which helps young people set up businesses, and says plans to add its Employability programme are imminent and will reach full capacity in the coming months.

David Ivell, chief information officer at the Prince’s Trust, said: “With the launch of Prince’s Trust Online we will be able to support more young people than ever and, perhaps most importantly, break down barriers that have previously prevented us reaching those who may have the most to gain from one of our programmes.

“Prince’s Trust Online will give anyone, anywhere and in any circumstance, the chance to complete a programme at their own speed, but with the full support we pride ourselves on delivering face to face.”

The platform has been launched with financial support from founding patrons Nominet and Natwest and content sponsor L’Oreal Paris.

Ivell revealed plans for the new service last year at the Charity Technology Conference, organised by Civil Society Media, when he said that over ten years the platform would help it to reach one million extra young people.

Civil Society Media is hosting its Charity Technology on 9 November 2017. For more information, and to book, click here.
