Charity Film Awards announces finalists

Fifty organisations have shortlisted for this Charity Film Awards, including wildlife charity Sumatran Orangutan Society, Breast Cancer Care and Book Aid International. 

Hundreds of charities and community interest companies entered this year’s awards, with 50,000 members of the public voting during the shortlisting process and judges then selecting the finalists. 

The finalists will now be judged by an expert panel including David Eades, BBC journalist and newsreader, Philip Collins, journalist and speechwriter at The Times, and Georgina Lewis, head of marketing at the FA.

Voting has also reopened for the People’s Choice award. Winners will be announced at the gala ceremony on the evening of Friday 26 April at etc.venues 133 Houndsditch, London. More information about each finalist is available on the website

Helen Buckland, director of Sumatran Orangutan Society, said: "We’re thrilled that this film has been recognised by the judging panel. We want it to get all the exposure it can to highlight to everyone that forest destruction is real and needs our attention, and we know the awards will make a big difference in getting it out there."
