Tony Burton
Tony Burton was appointed as a board member for the Big Lottery Fund in October 2012 and will take up the position in December. He was the director of policy and communications at the Design Council until September 2012.
He was the founding director of Civic Voice – a national charity for the civic movement. Prior to this, he was the National Trust’s executive board director responsible for strategy and external affairs for eight years.
Tony was deputy director at Campaign to Protect Rural England for 13 years and is also a geographer, town planner and an honorary fellow of the Royal Institution of British Architects. Other charitable roles include chair of Wildlife and Countryside Link and founding trustee of Heritage Link.
He was awarded a CBE in the Jubilee honours list for services to planning local government and community.
