Paul Knight is a tax director at BDO LLP, leading on the delivery of tax services to the charity sector and other not-for-profit clients. 

With over 12 years of experience of working with not-for-profit clients, Paul has been involved in a very broad range of charity tax issues.

Paul is an active member of the Charity Tax Group. He regularly presents at the Charity Finance Director Group(CFDG) seminars run by BDO, updating the charity sector on hot topics.

Senior accounting officer rules

BDO and a group of national charities have agreed an analysis with HM Revenue & Customs that will take nearly all charities out of the senior accounting officer rules. Paul Knight explains.

From 1 April 2011, for any accounting period ending after 31 March 2010, HMRC requires that all corporation tax returns are filed online. All supporting documentation, including the accounts and tax computations for the accounting period, must also be filed online.
