Lord Nat Wei is a social entrepreneur, founder of the Shaftesbury Partnership and fellow of the Young Foundation. In May 2011 he resigned his government role as Big Society adviser, a position he held for a year, to take a voluntary role with the Community Foundation Network to devise practical ways to implement the Big Society.
After studying at Oxford University he worked for management consultancy firm McKinsey & Company before moving to the charity Teach First and then Absolute Return for Kids where he set up the Future Leaders programme.
He founded the Shaftesbury Partnership in 2006 which is inspired by Victorian social reformers and works on housing, healthcare and social projects.
Wei was made a life peer when he was appointed as an unpaid government advisor in May 2010 when he also stepped down from active involvement in the organisations he had previously been involved with.
