Martin Brookes

Martin Brookes was formerly the chief executive of New Philanthropy Capital.  A former Goldman Sachs economist (1987 – 1993) and Amnesty International researcher (1994 – 2001), he joined NPC as an analyst, became director of research in 2003 and then chief executive in March 2008.

In November 2008 he announced his intention to set up a charity called Pro Bono Economics, which will provide other charities with free economic expertise to help them better understand the environment in which they operate.

Martin Brookes, chief executive of think-tank New Philanthropy Capital, will suggest that charities should be ranked according to their societal benefit, in a speech at the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce tonight. 

I am just wondering what the evidence is for this assertion: and particularly the inference that if we had more high quality fundraisers we would raise more money. I take as evidence the recent NPC paper on giving which said it was the banks who needed to develop better product and no mention was made of a dearth of fundraisers as being a barrier to raising money.
