David Biddle, chief executive of Change, Grow, Live, will be stepping down from his role as chief executive of the social care and health charity next year.

Biddle, who was been with the charity for 21 years and was appointed chief executive in 2013, has announced that he plans to leave the organisation at the end of the current financial year. CGL is starting its recruitment process for a new chief executive, which will be appointed by its board and announced in December.

He has been with CGL, which was known as Crime Reduction Initiatives up until 2016, since 1996, taking on the role of deputy chief executive in 2006 and chief executive in October 2013. A spokeswoman said Biddle is planning to take a brief break after leaving CGL, before working on "other projects outside the sector, but close to his heart".

Biddle said: “The past 21 years at CGL has been a remarkable experience. CGL has been a major part of my life but this is the right time to hand over to a new leader - someone who can lead the strategic direction of this organisation in the next phase of its development. I have no doubt CGL will continue to go from strength to strength. It has been a privilege to be able to make a contribution.”

The charity’s income has grown significantly during the time that Biddle has been with the organisation, with the charity’s income over £100m for the last three year, peaking at £158m at the year ending March 2016.
