World Emergency Relief is holding a parallel World Cup tournament, right outside the gates of the South Africa stadia. The charity has published a film of the tournament alongside a series of short films documenting life "outside the stadium", which look at growing up in the townships, the local passion for football and the challenges facing South Africa.
Made by young people from a community football programme in Paarl, South Afica, World Emergency Relief are publishing the videos on their website providing space for the films to take an honest look at life for ordinary people in modern South Africa, and at the impact of the tournament.
Below is the first of the films and all films can be seen at Outside the Stadium.
