British Red Cross has implemented Agresso Business World as its new enterprise resource planning system, replacing its previous PeopleSoft application from Oracle.
The application will not only be used by finance staff, but will allow employees such as fundraisers and programme workers anywhere in the world to claim expenses, order goods and services and access their management accounts and budgets.
Having gone live in October, the software currently interfaces with the charity’s HR and Red Cross Training system, and will soon also connect with the charity’s fundraising system, Ascent, and retail system.
The project has been led by deputy director of finance Carol O'Neill. She told Civil Society IT: “Agresso is revolutionising the way the British Red Cross manages its financial information and reporting by integrating better with other systems.
"By doing so, we are simplifying the whole processes, reducing paperwork and pushing down administration costs."
Meanwhile, the design and build of a new British Red Cross website is well underway, and is slated for an April 2010 launch.
The site is being built on the content management system (CMS) Sitecore, as the limited nature of the charity’s previous CMS meant it was having to set up microsites rather than being able integrate new functionality into the site.
The change will also mean it can negotiate with multiple design agencies rather than being tied to its previous CMS provider.
Designed by creative agency Aqueduct, the website will improve navigation, accessibility, and increase traffic from search engines.
