Crimestoppers UK has signed a partnership agreement with a geographical information system company to integrate the technology into its website so that it provides more accurate information to the police.
Esri UK will be meeting with the charity in the next few weeks to discuss how a solution can be implemented on the charity’s website without compromising the charity’s commitment to anonymity.
Budgie Dhanda, general manager for defence, national security, and public safety at Esri UK told civilsociety.co.uk that the project would be completed in a few months time and that: “We will be making a substantial donation as well as giving our time and expertise.”
Chief executive of Crimestoppers, Mick Laurie said: “If GIS (geographic information systems) can help us to provide more useful information to the police, and make it easier for people to share what they know through our anonymous number or online secure form, we can be even more effective in the fight against crime.”
