JustGiving has launched an in-memory fundraising tool enabling people to set up tribute pages for a loved one.
JustGiving In Memory was developed in response to demand from fundraisers, supporters and charities, the organisation advised. Using JustGiving’s current platform it brings all fundraising activities, including calls for donations or challenge events, into one page integrated with Facebook and other social networks.
Fundraisers and supporters will be able to see all the fundraising achievements and donations raised in memory of someone and charities will get improved reporting so that they can improve and tailor their supporter care, JustGiving said.
During the development of the tool, JustGiving worked with Alzheimer’s Society, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and other bereavement care specialists to make sure they had appropriate levels of supporter care.
Matt Forest, head of community fundraising at GOSHCC, said: “JustGiving In Memory has really delivered what we need, and more importantly what our supporters need and have been asking for when fundraising for a loved one.”
According to JustGiving the number of people who want to fundraise online in memory of someone has increased over the last three years from 4,500 in 2008 to 12,000 in 2011.
It is not the only online in-memory fundraising service. In 2008 Whitewater launched 'Our Lasting Tribute' which currently has more than 30 national UK charities using its service.
