The British Heart Foundation has created a mobile petition website so that smartphone users can support campaigns from their device.
Emergency Life Skills campaign posters, which launch this week, will feature an SMS shortcode and QR code that people can text or scan to be sent a link to the mobile site where they can sign the petition calling for the teaching of life-saving skills in schools.
Created by digital agency Incentivated using its SaaS platform, it is thought to be the first time SMS shortcode technology has been used to engage supporters in a campaign.
Julie Toft, advocacy manager at BHF, said the organisation chose to test the technology on this schools-based campaign as “we wanted to engage with young people”.
